Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is the very root of all yogas. Hatha stands for Sun and Moon, and it includes breathwork, heating and cooling sequences, postures that help with developing flexibility and strength. This class aims to assist students with returning to their inner balance, relieving the stress out of mind and out of body. Every class ends with deep relaxation, leaving the students in a refreshed, energized and relaxed state.

Kripalu Yoga

Kripalu Yoga

Kripalu Yoga is based on Hatha Yoga, but it is a gentler style, allowing oneself to do less than more. Class begins and ends with relaxation. Use of props is encouraged, so that students are supported and assisted in their practice. There is an emphasis on breath though the whole class and the approach is slow and meditative.

Meditation

Take some time in your week to sit quietly, practice meditation and be present with the wonder of yourself. Meditation has been shown to assist in reducing stress,
anxiety and depression and to help with an increased sense of well-being. Offered by Shambala Meditation Group. Beginning and experienced meditators welcome.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is geared towards restoring of your energy. It is slow paced, and includes lots of props for support and comfort: blankets, pillows, blocks, belts, bolsters, sand bags, chairs and others. You will leave the class feeling grounded and refreshed, open and relaxed.

Yoga Philosophy

This class introduces concepts from Yoga Philosophy in simple terms. We look at the teachings in a way that can be appropriated to our every day life. Yoga is a vast system that encompasses philosophy, psychology, art, and a holistic system. In the past few years this class has grown in popularity and the attendance is very consistent. We are currently exploring the Bhagavad Gita, the ancient and most loved text of yoga. “Chewing” each verse at a time, we delve into, discuss, and explore each one, extracting their deeper meaning and referring to teachings from other traditions.

Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT) are entitled to receive CEU credits for this class. These continuing education hours must be completed by all RYT in order to maintain the registration with the Yoga Alliance and show their growth in their yoga knowledge and teaching skills.

The class is held in discussion style, not a lecture style and is facilitated by Alex.

Yoga For EveryBody

This class is designed with people who carry more weight, and are newer to Yoga. It is held in a More Than Weight Loss Wellness Clinic (http://weightlosshamilton.com/) on Upper James, near Fennel. In this class you will Stretch and Strengthen, Breathe deeply and relax, let go of Tension and Agitation. Teachings from Yoga Philosophy and Psychology are offered to help find Self Acceptance, Enthusiasm, Peacefulness, and Calmness. Yoga practice is helpful with balancing of the internal system, including that of digestions, elimination and the endocrine system. Ultimately yoga helps us with our mental direction, so that we can quieten the chatter, and focus on our goals in life.
